Getting To The Conference:

You have a few options for getting around. If you are driving the parking will be $8 a day. If you don’t want to rent a car the easiest way to get to De Paul will be by Taxi. This will cost you about $30. The cheapest way is to use CTA.

General CTA information:

The most economical way for getting to the conference is on CTA. CTA cards can be purchased at the airport train stations with cash or on-line. The easiest thing to do is to buy a 1-day ($5), 2 days ($9), 3 ($12), 5 day ($18), or 7 day ($20) pass. With these cards you get unlimited rides and you don’t have to worry about running out of money. I’d suggest you buy these ahead of time since you can only purchase them at a couple of the train stations and they tend not to have all denominations available.

The other option is to purchase a transit card. You can put as much or as little on these as you want and you can recharge them at any train station (not on buses though). A train ride costs $2 and a bus ride $1.75. Typically transfers from train to train are free but you must be careful not to exit the station (don’t go through any turnstiles). Transfers from bus to bus or train to bus will cost you $.25. If you are just planning on going from the airport to DePaul and back it should cost $4. You can use one card for up to seven people according to the CTA but every time I try to something goes wrong so I’d suggest getting one card per person. Children under 7 are free and from 7-12 years old they can get a reduced fare of $.85 per ride and $.15 per transfer. For the reduced fare you need a special card and a CTA representative present to let you in. Make sure you find a CTA person BEFORE you swipe! To obtain a card ask the CTA person for a card and add money like any other card. You can also purchase single ride cards online. There is usually only one CTA person per station so sometimes these reduced fare cards can be more trouble then they are worth.

Getting from O’Hare to DePaul:

Follow the signs to the train station. The station is in the basement of the airport. The trains only go one direction from here so you can’t go the wrong way. Take the blue line train to Clark and Lake. From here transfer to the Brown or the Purple line. Both trains will take you to De Paul (Fullerton Station) and they only go one direction here so you can’t go the wrong way. You will have to go upstairs to transfer from the Blue Line. There are elevators and signs, but it can be tricky. Don’t go through any turnstiles or you will have to pay again. Take the train to Fullerton Station. When you get out of the station walk west half a block to Sheffield. It is the first cross street. Walk south for 1 1/2 blocks to 2250 N Sheffield. Fullerton does not have an elevator yet. If you need an elevator, the Armitage Station should have one by June 2008. When you get out of the Armitage Station walk west half a block west to Sheffield. It is the first cross street. Walk north for three blocks to 2250 N Sheffield.
