SPECIAL EVENTS

 We are very excited to be offering special events during the conference. Our planned events include:

Keynote Speech

The 2nd International Babywearing Conference will feature one keynote speech event on Thursday, June 26th, which is sure to be a highlight of the conference. Our special speaker is Jeni Norton, the founder of the largest babywearing online community, thebabywearer.com, with over 40,000 members to date. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for Nine In, Nine Out, Inc. In addition, Jeni is currently undertaking a Ph.D. at Australia’s premier research institution, Australian National University, with research focusing on the effects of babywearing on mothers. She has also written numerous articles on babywearing.

Panel Event

Learn about the History of Babywearing from those that know it best. Our panel will consist of Barbara Wishingrad from The Rebozo Way Project; Jeni Norton, our guest keynote speaker; Ann Moore, creator of the Snugli (now Weego), and others. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask these experts questions about babywearing from it’s conception to what’s happening today in the babywearing community.

Fashion Show

The fashion show will feature carriers and babywearing accessories from around the world! This event will take place on the Friday afternoon of the conference, allowing conference attendees, including the general public, who will have the opportunity to purchase fashion show tickets, to browse the exhibit hall after the fashion show.

Raffle

As part of the fashion show event, conference and fashion show attendees will be able to purchase raffle tickets starting Wednesday, June 25^th until right before the fashion show for the chance to win one or more carriers donated by various vendors. Raffle tickets will be priced at $3 each or $5 for 2 tickets. Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to local babywearing outreach and thebabywearer.com (TBW), the largest online site dedicated to advancing babywearing, through articles, reviews and forums.
